APO is "Army Post Office" - a very old term that has just stuck over the years. AE is Armed forces Europe - all middle east mail goes through the European military postal system. There's AP for Pacific, and AH for Hawaii, and a couple more. The zip dials it into the specific base, camp, etc. One of our fellow smokers Ken (Seboke in the forum) will make sure the troops get the goods as he is stationed there..
