Hi
Rob,
I wanted to drop you a line to say thanks for
all your hard work on the Smokingpit.com
website. Im not an experienced smoker, but my 3
kids chipped in 3 years ago and bought me a Bar
b chef offset smoker and I am still learning the
ropes. Now, I think I can grill a mean steak
now, and have successfully smoked about 4
holiday turkeys, but smoking has been more of a
challenge for me to adapt to. This year, my wife
convinced me to add on to the patio and install
an island with an upgraded grill. We're about
3/4 way through this project then I got injured
and laid up for about 4 months.
In this down time, I decided to get an upright
smoker to match in with the gas grill (I kept
the Bar b chef). I decided on the Masterbuilt XL
gas smoker and have it modified like many have
on Smoking-meat.com. Its working great for a sub
$200 smoker
after the
modifications. I found your site while I was
surfing on AzBarbeque.com. The videos really are
a hit. They help the newbs like me get a handle
on whats going on, simplify the process, and are
entertaining too. Since finding your site last
week, I've smoked a Chicken Teriyaki Fatty and
some Hickory smoked moink balls. Today, Im going
for the ABT's, and some variation of the moink
balls yet to be determined, and will be doing
your maple honey glazed ham for Christmas day.
And Im exploring cold smoking too. Now, Im
really hooked!
Thanks again for the very informative site,
Mike

Rob,
I forgot to tell you, I love your site with the
recipes and videos.
Great work! You're also helping me learn the smoking
I haven't tried
yet. I've had an offset smoker for a few years and
only tried ribs every
now and then, but someone I work with mentioned the
Treager smoker. I
investigated and bought the same as you have, the
075. I think it's
great and another smoker I work with keeps telling
me it's not real
smoking. I've done ribs, ABT's, macaroni and cheese,
beans, cord on the
cob and some pulled pork so far. My next project is
a brisket for the
first time and I'm going back to your site for info.
Oh yeah, I'll
probably slip some Cherry Dr Pepper pulled pork in
there some where.
On the Dr Pepper BBQ sauce, do you have the recipe
on your web site?
Thanks again.

Thank you for all the high-quality, informative
video instruction. I've made several of your recipes
either on my COS or kettle grill with the breakfast
fattie and injected wings being my favorites. In
fact, I'm making a version of the glazed chicken
overload this weekend, substituting smoked ABT's for
the other stuffing fixnin's.
I'm doing the low-carb thing too which is actually
how I found your site.
